- "The introduction by Mrs M. G. Glazebrook, the wife of the head-master of Clifton, and sister-in-law of the well-known portrait painter. The book is, of course, issued in England for educational purposes. But the format is very pretty and in general appearance (except fro the cover) as well as the price, rather resembles that of the York Library. The episodes selected by Mme. Gualtieri for putting into elegant prose are those of Farinata degli Uberti, Pier della Vigna, Guido da Montefeltro, Manfredi, Sordello, Provenzano Salvani, Sapia da Siena".
