La Società tipografica Azzoguidi viene fondata a Bologna. Muove i primi passi nel 1875 ma è solo il 7 gennaio 1880 che viene sancita l'apertura ufficiale con atto notarile di Giovanni Magri.
La casa editrice Bietti nasce a Milano nel 1870, a opera dello stampatore Angelo Bietti. Affermatasi con la pubblicazione di classici come Verne, Dumas e Dostoevskij, nonché la prima edizione dello Zingarelli, raggiunge il suo apice negli anni Sessanta, divenendo un punto di riferimento nazionale. Alla fine degli anni Novanta il marchio viene rilevato da Federico Milesi e la direzione assunta da Valerio Riva.
